Testing and examination for COVID-19 at NorthBay Urgent Care

Scheduled appointments preferred, walk-ins available.

Some COVID-19 tests are sent to an offsite lab, with average results back in 3 to 5 days, but an increase in testing demand can delay results up to 7 days. When appropriate, rapid tests are available.

  • Have Insurance?
    • Depending on your plan, your insurance provider may waive the co-pay for a test if the diagnosis comes back positive for COVID, but this is not always the case. We recommend calling your health plan directly to discuss how they handle COVID testing.
    • If your test comes back negative or you are diagnosed with anything else (strep/flu/sinus infection, etc.), a co-pay may be charged.
  • No Insurance?
    • You will be asked to complete a HRSA form of non-insurance. There is no charge if test comes back positive for COVID or if you have symptoms or a recent exposure.
    • $195-350 is the cash pay visit price if any other condition is identified.
  • Out of Network?
    • You will need to fill out our "out-of-network" form. Most insurance providers will cover the cost of the visit and test. However, individual insurance companies do vary and you may receive a bill.
    • Average test fees for out-of-network local labs are $150-200.

At the end of your appointment, we will provide you with a work note documenting your condition. Unfortunately we are unable to provide other types of documentation (LOA, FMLA or related documents). Please contact your primary care provider for assistance.

Once your results have been received by NorthBay Urgent Care, you will be able to view them in the MyNorthBayDoc patient portal app. If your test is positive, you will receive a call from NorthBay Urgent Care notifying you of the results. There will be no call if your test is negative.

If your symptoms persist, we urge you to follow-up with your primary care provider. When this is not possible, NorthBay Urgent Care will see you for a full visit (billing and related charges will apply).
