Professional Profile

I believe that nurse practitioners play a vital role in filling the growing need for more primary care providers in America. My interest in advanced practice nursing began when I worked as a nurse intern for a family practice clinic. I became fascinated with the diverse role of the nurse practitioner to diagnose and treat illnesses. However, as a “new grad” from the University of Alaska, Anchorage School of Nursing, I opted not to rush into nurse practitioner school. Instead, I began my nursing career as a pediatric registered nurse and become an Air Force wife.

I spent five years overseas, traveling Europe and adopting a child from Colombia. Just a year after adopting my son, I welcomed my first biological son. It was not until we relocated to California, that I decided to return to school to fulfill my dream of becoming a family nurse practitioner.

That first job out of nursing school as a pediatric registered nurse is where my love for pediatrics began. I love pediatrics! As a mother of now five kids with ages ranging from infancy to adolescence, I feel like I have a good understanding and connection with not only my pediatric patients but their parents as well.

If there is one thing I want my patients to know about me as a caregiver, it’s that I aim to treat them and their families with the same kindness and respect that I would expect my kids to receive from their pediatrician.
