Here’s Your Best Protection Against a Triple Whammy
With cooler weather comes turning leaves and football, which most people welcome. What most do not is a case of the flu. NorthBay Health hopes you’re making plans to defend yourself and your family from this season’s strains of flu, COVID, and even the risk of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).
NorthBay has vaccine supplies for all three now available for patients established with NorthBay primary care physicians.
“NorthBay Health is pleased to offer the newest RSV vaccines for older adults, pregnant mothers, and monoclonal antibody treatment for newborns to provide protection against RSV,” noted Ryan Seo, NorthBay’s Assistant Vice President of the Pharmacy.
“The FDA has just granted approval for these first-ever RSV vaccines, marking a significant milestone in respiratory infectious disease prevention,” Ryan explained. “NorthBay Health received shipments of the vaccine in late October, in support of our continued commitment to community health and staying at the forefront of advanced medicine.”
“Having access to the newest RSV vaccine is a groundbreaking deployment,” Ryan added, “and is part of NorthBay’s commitment to safeguarding the health of the most vulnerable populations in our community.”
As for the flu, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone 6 months and older receive a flu vaccine.
“Getting your flu shot is an important and effective way that we can protect ourselves, our families and our community,” noted Seth Kaufman, M.D., VP, Chief Medical Officer/Chief Quality Officer.
Vaccines for the 2023-2024 flu season are quadrivalent, meaning they will protect you against the four flu viruses that research suggests will be most common this year – two Influenza A and two Influenza B viruses.
Vaccine manufacturers have projected that they will supply the United States with as many as 156.2 million to 170 million doses of influenza vaccines for the 2023-2024 season, according to the CDC.
Moderna COVID vaccines are also available for NorthBay Health patients.
“The high demand for Moderna has led to some delay, but we remain optimistic about receiving the vaccines in the upcoming weeks, ensuring our community stays protected during these challenging times,” Ryan added.
Flu vaccines can be administered during a regular doctor appointment, or at appointment based clinics:
- In American Canyon, every other Monday, from 8:30 to 11:50 a.m. at 416 Napa Junction.
- In Vacaville, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 421 Nut Tree Road.
- In Fairfield, on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2458 Hilborn Road.
- In Green Valley, on Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4520 Business Center Drive.
