Meet Blain Claypool

As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for NorthBay Health, Blain Claypool brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across hospital systems, academic medicine, and physician services organizations, with a proven record of driving operational performance, quality improvement, and strategic growth.

Previously, Blain served as Chief Operating Officer of HNI Healthcare, a national physician services organization focused on hospital performance and value-based care delivery across more than 70 hospitals and 100 post-acute facilities nationwide. Prior to that, he served as President of Acute Care for Ascension’s St. Vincent’s Healthcare system in Jacksonville, where he oversaw three hospitals totaling nearly 950 beds and approximately $880 million in annual revenue. He has also held chief executive roles with Renown Health and St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, leading operational turnarounds, service line expansion, and quality improvement initiatives.

Known for his servant leadership approach and ability to build collaborative, high-performing teams, Blain has a strong record of engaging physicians, communities, and boards to advance both organizational and community outcomes.

Blain holds a Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelors from Oklahoma State University.
