Six-year initiative aims to enable a healthier North Bay community by delivering convenient, accessible, and high-quality care.

NorthBay Health, a leading healthcare system providing advanced and compassionate care to address critical, unmet healthcare needs throughout California’s North Bay, today announced a $250 million, multi-year ambulatory network strategy.

The creation of a new, expansive ambulatory network strategy (ANS) is key to meeting the tangible need for convenient, primary care and other outpatient medical services and will support NorthBay Health’s mission of becoming the region’s healthcare provider of choice by 2030.

According to the California Healthcare Foundation, about one third of Californians live in areas where there is a shortage of primary care providers. This need is even greater in rural areas like the communities throughout North Bay.

The ANS strives to meet this need and enable a healthier community by creating six to ten neighborhood, primary care clinics by 2030 and placing one within 15 minutes of every resident. Specialty hubs will also be built within 30 minutes of every resident, expanding NorthBay’s ancillary services to offer access to advanced imaging, labs, and pharmacies and create an increased focus on health and wellness.

“Today, marks a new chapter for NorthBay Health as we work towards becoming the healthcare provider of choice for Solano County and the broader North Bay region. To do that, we are significantly investing in bringing the quality, accessible, and convenient, primary and outpatient medical services that our patients need even closer to home,” said Mark Behl, Chief Executive Officer of NorthBay Health.

“This new ambulatory network strategy sets the stage for our continued expansion as we seek to answer the evolving needs of our diverse communities through relentless innovation, compassionate care, and advanced medicine.”

This strategic expansion will create a more seamless, accessible, and convenient care process for patients with reduced travel, wait times, and time between appointments. NorthBay Health’s new neighborhood clinics are expected to increase the number of primary care visits the system can accommodate by over 200,000 and reduce the average time for primary care appointments to seven days and 14 days for specialty care.

In addition to improving convenience and access to services, the ANS will revitalize the North Bay region by attracting a skilled workforce. By 2030, NorthBay is expected to add 45 new primary care providers and 90 new specialty providers. It will also lay the foundation for other strategic partnerships that address the community’s health and wellness needs while maintaining safety and quality.

“Now more than ever, patients, physicians, and other healthcare leaders are expressing serious concerns about the need for more primary care services with lower barriers to access. While many peers are cutting costs and consolidating services, we’re answering this call with strategic investments in ambulatory care,” said Mark Sievers, Chairman of NorthBay Health Group’s Board of Directors.

“The ANS epitomizes our commitment to offering advanced and compassionate care and collaborating with community partners to address the racial and ethnic disparities facing our patients, particularly in maternal and pediatric health.”

Additional details regarding the ANS and Vision 2030 will be released in the coming months. For PR contact, please reach out to NorthBayComms@fticonsulting.com.
