Pink Power

Passionately Pink for The Cure slideshow

It was quite a party at Pietro’s No. 1 in downtown Vacaville Oct. 20, when Vacaville firefighters put on pink T-shirts and served pizza to raise money for the NorthBay Cancer Center.

More than 225 pizzas were made during the three-hour event, which raised more than $4,400, including donations to the fire boot.

Many employees from the Cancer Center turned out to thank the firefighters. Even Fire Chief Kris Concepcion got into the act, serving up pizzas with his crews, who also handed out pink carnations to each female guest at the event.

Outside, "Christine," the fire truck named after a NorthBay guild volunteer who lost her battle with breast cancer, was on display.
