Two New Regulars Join Blogging for Your Health

Two new blogs aimed at keeping readers safe and healthy have debuted on NorthBay.org.

Diabetes Educator Collette DaCruz, R.N., has launched "Living with Diabetes 101," in which she will share helpful tips on how to navigate lifestyle changes after a diabetes diagnosis. Collette has worked at the NorthBay Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology in Vacaville since 2006.

Ashley Barrios, coordinator for NorthBay's Trauma Program for injury prevention and outreach, writes "Spare Yourself the Trauma." Her blog will provide information about Solano County statistics, how to practice safe habits and avoid the "trauma drama."

These new blogs join a healthy lineup of NorthBay blogs including the popular "Healthcare Insider" by NorthBay President and CEO Gary Passama. In addition, urologist Dr. Tin Ngo and women's health specialist Dr. Lauren Weber blog every other week in their areas of expertise.  A Commitment to Care blog keeps readers up to date on events sponsored by NorthBay Health Foundation and offers suggestions about what they can do to get involved and invested in their community.

"With Solano County having the highest rate of diagnosed diabetes in the state of California, we hope to reach a wide audience to get important messages out there," said Diane Barney, director of Public Relations.

Sharing safety information on how to avoid trauma is also important.

"The Trauma blog will offer advice from making your yard kid-safe to avoiding falls, the No. 1 incident that lands patients in our Emergency Departments," said Barney.

Regular readers can subscribe to RSS feeds on all blogs on NorthBay.org, so they'll get an alert every time they are updated.
