NorthBay Medical Center Wins Gold for Cardiac Patient Care
NorthBay Medical Center has received its second American College of Cardiology’s Gold Performance Achievement Award in a row.
To receive this Gold Performance Achievement Award, NorthBay Medical Center had to consistently follow the treatment guidelines in the ACTION Registry–Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) for 36 consecutive quarters and meet a performance standard of 90 percent for specific performance measures, according to Janet Mifflin, quality coordinator.
The award recognizes NorthBay Medical Center’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that our organization has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.
“NorthBay’s success is due largely in part to the close collaboration between the ED, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, cardiologists and SIP physicians as well as the EMS providers,” Mifflin noted. “They all play a vital role in providing the highest standard of care to our myocardial infarction patients from the moment they enter the healthcare system to the time they are discharged home.”
“This prestigious award is evidence of your team’s hard work and commitment to quality improvement. Eligibility requirements added this year make receiving the award even more commendable than in years’ past,” the letter from ACTION Registry-GWTG stated.
ACTION Registry–GWTG is a partnership between the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association with partnering support from the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. It empowers health care teams to treat heart attack patients according to the most current, science-based guidelines.
