NorthBay Kicks Off Walk to End Alzheimer’s

In attendance at the Alzheimer's walk kickoff were (left to right front row) Kammy Perion, Doreen Savage, Doris Lewis and Sapna Boyapti and (back row) Ed Lowe, Sandy Perez, Marcia Nutter and Bob Panzer.

Splashes of purple were everywhere — on flowers, balloons, T-shirts and even signs of “Hope” — as the official start of Walk to End Alzheimer’s season was kicked off at Green Valley Administration Center on July 21.

NorthBay Alzheimer’s Services — top sponsor for this year’s event — hosted the gathering of Alzheimer’s Association representatives, as well as team leaders for several of the walking groups, who came to Green Valley to stir up enthusiasm and sign up potential walkers. This year’s walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Suisun Waterfront. To join a NorthBay team, go to at www.alz.org. All who register to walk with a NorthBay team will be given a purple #NorthBay T-shirt this year.

The Alzheimer’s Association returns a good portion of funds raised back to the nonprofit organizations that support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. During the past three years, NorthBay’s teams have raised enough to earn a donation of more than $32,000 to support the NorthBay Adult Day Center, according to Sandy Perez, manager of NorthBay Alzheimer’s Services.
