Matthew Heeren, MD
Dr. Heeren is an advocate for children and their families. He believes children grow and develop best when the entire family is well.
"I want to partner with parents to promote each child's health and well-being. This includes all areas of cognitive, emotional, and physical development," Dr. Heeren says. As the father of three he understands the challenges involved in raising healthy and happy children. His background in Clinical Psychology also gives him experience working with ADHD, behavioral problems, academic difficulties and family dynamics.
"Talking to the pediatrician is often the first step parents take when their child develops behavioral problems," Dr. Heeren says. "I can help families by recognizing and diagnosing problems. Ultimately, my goal is to connect parents with any number of resources which will benefit both child and family."
Dr. Heeren also has a special interest in asthma and allergies and has done research on these conditions. "I enjoy children of all ages," Dr. Heeren adds. "I have been told I am a good listener with a good combination of sense of humor and authority to be an effective practitioner."
As a pediatrician he treats children and adolescents from birth to age 21. He also welcomes appointments with pregnant couples seeking a pediatrician before the birth of their child.
