New Rules on Portal Access for Teens

California laws protect adolescent privacy when it comes to health records. As of August 2, 2021, as a parent or guardian you will no longer have access to your teen’s (ages 13 – 17) online health records through MyNorthBay Doc.

Parents are entitled to limited access by requesting “proxy access” though the NorthBay Call Center. With proxy access parents/guardians may:

  • View immunization records
  • Send and receive messages with their teen’s providers
  • Schedule appointments for their teens

Teen Access

Adolescents age 13 – 17 have full access to their health records online, but they must first sign-up in person with any staff member at one of NorthBay Health's Primary Care or specialty practices. Teens must also have a personal email address that is different from their parent/guardian’s.

At this time we cannot provide portal access to twelve year olds. Authorized users can be granted proxy access.

For more information or to request proxy access, please call the NorthBay Call Center at (707) 646-5500.
